  • Kelly Brogan, MD, studied cognitive neuroscience at MIT before receiving her MD from Weill Cornell Medical College. Board certified in psychiatry, psychosomatic medicine, and integrative holistic medicine, she is one of the only doctors in the nation with these qualifications. She practices in Manhattan and is a mother of two young daughters.

    Physician Brogan, board-certified in psychiatry, psychosomatic medicine, and integrative holistic medicine, argues that anxiety, depression, and panic attacks are not a neurochemical disorder but rather a complex inflammatory disease that originates far from neural synapses and serotonin. She describes the biology of depression in depth and proposes a comprehensive treatment for wellness including meditation, diet, detoxification, sleep, and exercise. Interestingly, the author warns about the potential side effects of body lotions, tap water, and over-the-counter pain relievers. VERDICT This book would benefit women who have run the gamut of depression treatments and are looking for a tangible solution.
